A mechanic by trade, Fred Lynam purchased the Bundanoon - Moss Vale service of Don Platt t/a Platt's Omnibus Service, Moss Vale in 1955.
Slow but steady growth in school service and fleet size occurred until the sale of the business to John A Gilbert Pty Ltd t/a Berrima District Bus Service, Mittagong in February 1989 with all services and 8 buses.
Charter operations were an important part of the business.
The Lynam family tradition in the bus industry continues with sons Graeme and Phil Lynam both working as drivers for Berrima Buslines in Mittagong, both on services previously worked by their family business.
