Bruce's Bus Service - Lismore

This is a historic listing of vehicles owned and operated by Bruce's Bus Service - Lismore.

CP & AM Bruce commenced operations on 14 May 1973 with the take over of AD Edwards, Lismore. Edwards built his own bodies on the fleet of two GMC's and a White, operating two routes: 1) Lismore - Pound Hill (worked by MO 3619 White) and 2) Lismore - St Vincents Hospital (worked by MO 4199 GMC). The third bus was MO 5832 GMC.

In June 1976, the Lismore - Base Hospital service was acquired from CC & BA Roberts, Lismore. The three town services operated by Bruce's were then joined and operated as the Lismore Square.

A charter coach in the form of MO 5450 Nissan UD / CCMC was purchased in mid 1977.

Son, Geoff, and daughter-in-law, Julie, came into the business in the mid 1980’s. By 1991, the business passed down a generation from CP & AM Bruce to G & J Bruce (acc no. 3927).

As a result of contract changes stemming from the Passenger Transport Act of 1990, the decision was made to diversify into non-commercial school bus contracts and sell the commercial contract for Lismore town services to Kirklands Coaches Pty.Ltd. in mid to late-1992. The business of GJ & MJ Hall, Cawongla was taken over during 1991 consisting of four non-commercial school contracts:
1. N0356 Lismore - Rock Valley
2. N0347 Lismore - Caniaba
3. N0339 Larnook Primary School
4. N0357 Lismore - Cawongla

N2823 Lismore - Spring Grove - Caniaba commenced in 2003 as an overflow to N0347, followed by N3026 Perradenya Estate School Bus Service in Term 3 2011.

Bruce’s sold out to Simes Bros Bus Service (SB Coaches Pty Ltd), Lismore on 1 March 2017 with 7 school contracts and 8 buses.
